Typisch Mann?
At a time when the role of women in society is undergoing a transformation, women’s attitudes towards the opposite sex are also changing. At the beginning of 1981, the editors of the women’s magazine »Brigitte« invited women to take part in the exhibition »Women Photographing Men«. 218 female photographers took part with 1680 photos, 81 of which were included in the exhibition. The close relationship between the magazine and the subject matter gave rise to the idea of organizing this call: a photography exhibition could bring to light the image of a »new man«, seen with the keen eye of professional female photographers.
