Wolf Suschitzky Prize 2025
The exhibition presents works by this year’s winners, Andrej Polukord (AT) and Jeremy Chih-Hao Chuang (UK). In addition, four further photographers from the United Kingdom and four from Austria were nominated for the exhibition. From the United Kingdom: Benjamin Jones, Chidinma Nnorom, Maria Quigley and Natalie Maximova; from Austria: Anna Jocham, Eva Maria Ocherbauer, Hessam Samavatian and Nora Obergeschwandner.
The theme of this year’s prize was based on the opening words of the Shakespeare quotation: “All the world’s a stage and all the men and women merely players…”. The Austrian Cultural Forum London established the prize in 2018 following the death of Wolf Suschitzky (1912–2016). In recognition of the dual nature of Suschitzky’s identity, the prize is aimed at photographers living in either the United Kingdom or Austria. The prize was awarded by a jury of experts from Austria and the United Kingdom. The jury members were Anne McNeill (Impressions Gallery, Bradford), Duncan Forbes (Head of Photography at the Victoria and Albert Museum), Erwin Polanc (photographer), James Hyman (Director of the Centre for British Photography), Magdalena Vukovic (Photoinstitut Bonartes), Maria Venzl (University of Linz), Peter Schreiner (FOTOHOF), and Adam Suschitzky.
The FOTOHOF>ARCHIV houses the estate of Wolf Suschitzky; the prize is therefore presented as a collaboration between the Austrian Cultural Forum London and FOTOHOF in Salzburg.
