Book Presentation Fritz Simak

Vienna-based Fritz Simak is a pioneer of conceptual photography who finds his subjects in his immediate surroundings. His works exemplify a form of photography that not only depicts reality but also, through light and shadow, rhythm and structure, enables a new way of seeing. In his newly published book *Photographs in the Key of Life*, he showcases his extensive body of work while sharing his profound knowledge of the art of photography.
For the SpallArt collection, Fritz Simak is not only a defining artist but also an important source of inspiration. In the early days of the collection, he played a decisive role as curator in shaping its thematic direction, and for a time, the Simak and SpallArt collections appeared together under the name “Sputnik.” As a tribute to his work and to present his new book, we are showing a small special exhibition, Fritz Simak. Im Rhythmus von Licht und Schatten., as part of our exhibition In the Lights of Shadows at the Fotodepot, SpallArt collection, Salzburg.
