Paul Albert Leitner in Graz
For four decades now, Paul Albert Leitner has been working on a photographic oeuvre that combines a wide variety of genres. Here, still lifes, architectural photographs, self-portraits, and city and landscape photographs stand side by side on an equal footing. In addition, there are countless collages that show Leitner as a careful and perceptive chronicler of everyday life. Over the years, this has resulted in an extensive body of work, which the artist meticulously archives and links to accompanying notes and ephemera of the commonplace. In his solo exhibition at Camera Austria, photographs by Paul Albert Leitner are brought together with the faits divers he has collected, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in the artist’s (pictorial) cosmos. Not least, this gives an impression of how the artist’s subjective photographs can be situated in the world as he sees it, and what insights into political and everyday developments and transformation processes can be read from them.
The exhibition includes loans from FOTOHOF>ARCHIV.
