Project Groundswell – Submissions possible until April 30
FOTOHOF is a partner of the European collaborative project “Project Groundswell.” Submissions for the current Open Call are still possible until April 30, 2025. The project is dedicated to photographic engagement with climate protection measures and seeks artistic works that focus on active approaches to the climate crisis. The primary focus is not on documenting climate changes, but rather on photographic or video-based projects that address proposed solutions to the climate crisis.
Thematically, the works can cover different areas: reduction of CO2 emissions, promotion of circular economy, preservation of biodiversity, critical examination of greenwashing, or commitment to climate justice. In addition to documentary and photojournalistic approaches, personal, conceptual, or experimental approaches are also welcome – the decisive factor is the reference to concrete climate protection actions.
4 selected artists will receive €5,000 each for their contributions, presentations at FOTOHOF, Photo Museum Ireland, Cortona On The Move Festival, and Imago Lisboa Festival (2026), as well as publication in the form of a monograph. Additionally, the twelve finalists will each be supported with €1,000 and mentoring to further develop their work. FOTOHOF looks forward to submissions from artists who use the medium of photography to advance social dialogue on climate protection measures and open up new perspectives.
