The work of Austrian-British exile photographer Wolf Suschitzky (1912–2016) is presented in a comprehensive retrospective in the illustrated book “Exile and Journeys”. The selection of images draws on the extensive estate of this legendary photographer, which is held in the FOTOHOF>ARCHIVE. The selection spans his time as a photography student in Vienna, his exile in Amsterdam and London, and his important international reportages after the end of World War II. Fourteen chapters present exemplary reportages from his photographic career. The inclusion of contact prints of these photo series and reproductions of published articles reveals a comprehensive context of use.
Julia Winckler, a renowned specialist on Wolf Suschitzky, has contributed a very detailed biography and description of his work, with a particular focus on the images selected for the book. The illustrated book accompanies an exhibition of the same name in Monschau, Germany, which will subsequently be shown at other venues.
