Eyes on. November 2012

Eyes On—Month of Photography Vienna is Austria’s largest photography festival, which has been held every two years since 2004. November 2012 is once again given over entirely to photography, turning Vienna into the capital of photography for a month. The spectrum of exhibitions ranges from historical photography to contemporary photo art and scientific documentation. Highlights include the exhibition „Foto-Automaten-Kunst“ with works from the Surrealists to Warhol and Rainer at the KUNST HAUS WIEN, Wolfgang Thaler’s photographic report on the forgotten socialist architecture in former Yugoslavia at the Architekturzentrum Wien, the „Best of…“ exhibition by Viennese artist Anita Witek, the retrospective of Austrian fashion and portrait photographer Elfie Semotan and Klaus Pichler’s bizarre results of his investigations behind the scenes in Vienna’s Museum of Natural History. The catalogue provides an overview of the exciting program, at more than 200 exhibition venues featuring works by 700 Austrian and international photographers.
