Andrea Botto - Landscape as Performance

Landscape as Performance

 20,00

Italian artist Andrea Botto has been continuously engaged in photographing explosions since 2008. His work offers a kind of culmination point in which a number of the central functions and capabilities of photography are concentrated: We consider landscape photography, a classic subject of the medium. His works show photographic technology at the heart of its purpose, in capturing an unrepeatable moment that transcends our own physical ability to perceive. And of course, these images are also documentaries, visual records of historical events that a community of people want to remember for generations. Upon closer inspection of the images, however, it becomes immediately clear that there is no distant eyewitness acting here. The landscape becomes both a photographic studio and a staged model, and his work a reflection of processes of change and dissolution. The book contains an extensive selection of outstanding existing works as well as new ones he photographed in the Tyrol/Vorarlberg region as part of the INN SITU series.
