The catalogue is published in connection with the exhibition ME, MYSELF & THEM, a group show on self-portrait at the Künstlerhaus Wien during the Vienna Month of Photography Eyes-On 2012, that features significant and established Austrian art photographers alongside a younger generation of artists and their pan-media practice. The book provides a lively approach to the definition, importance and meaning of exploring the self through photography. All illustrations are accompanied by artist statements that offer a rare look into the artists´ motives of dealing with issues like identity, self-representation and exploring the self.

Essays from i.a. the curator Brigitte Konyen, photography writer Timm Starl, Manisha Jothady and Angela Schwank complete this book on one of the longest-established artistic genres, the self-portrait.
