“Mémoires 1983” opens with the very intimate diary of Christine Furuya-Gössler from 1983 and displays the photographs from Seiichi Furuya from the same year. The Photographs – depicting Portraits, Cityscapes from Vienna and Graz, Landscapes, and Still-lifes – deal with the personal relationship the artist had with his wife. “Anything not to release me (…) Always, when I think about what I had, I’m in the year 1983, and that’s when all the chaos started. This book contains almost all of the existing notes in the diaries of Christine Furuya-Gössler from 1983. Omissions have been marked with […], some names have been replaced with pseudonyms. Spelling mistakes were corrected in the course of proofreading. The German spelling rules were retained that were valid at the time the notes were written (the new regulation came into force in 1998). Explanatory footnotes have been added in some cases for better understanding. Illegible words and unclear
passages are marked and indicated as such in the footnotes. Minor insertions in the original text (such as prepositions or expansions of abbreviations) are indicated by angled brackets. Sketches that Christine added to her notes are described briefly in angled brackets.

Seiichi Furuya, *1950 in Izu, Japan. Since 1973 he works and lives mainly in Austria. Since 1987 he lives in Graz, Austria.
