In three chapters – European Identity in a Global World, Scratching the Surface and In der Ferne [Distant Climes] – Viennese artist Karin Mack explores the structure and impact of media images in a large arc of documentary photographs that spans her own travels and appropriated fashion and war photographs. Her quiet, contemplative
travel photographs correspond with expressive collages (processed in both analogue and digital form) and combine with her critical essays to create an artistic statement that also references her insistence on a feminist viewpoint of photography as a medium.
