New Topographics. Texte und Rezeption

 1,00

The exhibition New Topographics: Photographs of a Man-altered Landscape, which was held in the George Eastman House in Rochester/New York in 1975, is widely regarded as one of the style-defining and most influential in the history of photography. For the German-language stages of the international exhibition tour in Linz and Cologne the “remake” has been complemented not just with contemporary positions but also with an additional publication. This exquisite exhibition guide comprises examples of photographs by all the artists featured at the original exhibition as well as translations of the texts of the English-language catalogue – by Britt Salvesen and Alison Nordström – and an original essay by Gabriele Hofer on the way in which the New Topographics were received in the German-speaking countries. The introduction by William Jenkins, curator of the legendary exhibition, has also been translated into German for the first time. Other photograph contributions are by Thomas Struth, Andreas Gursky, Simone Nieweg, Joachim Brohm, Margherita Spiluttini, Andrew Phelps and Chris Durham.
