The photobook “Polar” shows a comparison of two series of images which were taken in the years 1940 – 1944 and 2012 – 2016. The photographers are grandfather and grandson, who never met each other. Both of them crossed numerous countries in Europe in their young years, the grandfather as a soldier, the grandson as a traveling skateboarder. The author, Jakob Dellacher, discovered the pictures of his grandfather Peter Breitfuss by chance. After contemplating on the prints for some time, he recognized parallels to his own photographs, although the situations could hardly have been more different. Jakob Dellacher fills a personal void with this work.
