Nikolaus Schletterer’s work with photography can be seen as an investigative, conceptual engagement with the ontology of apparatus-assisted perception. SUSPENDED is about processing existing images that represent our visual image of the world—and examining their reducibility to the bare essentials. This radical “distillation” process generates new beautiful abstract images—yet they carry the very last traces of a former figurative picture.
