For two decades, Austrian-born photographer Günther Selichar has pursued parallel careers as artist and historian, using his theoretical skills to step back from his work. Selichar creates a visual dialogue by emphasizing issues of boundaries: a place where photography and painting overlap, where populism and elitism meet. Selichar´s color photographs focus on constructive principles as well as the political, sociological and psychological issues brought to bear by mass media images. An insightful look in to the artist´s alternative vision and manipulation of the photographic medium.

“I don´t see myself as a photographer, but rather as someone who uses mainly the medium of photography, but at the same level alongside other media”, says Selichar.
