The book cover shows an exemplary photo from Vienna. A snow white fur-hat, which covers the heads of many older ladies in winter, is being presented pompously in a window display with the city surroundings reflected in the glass. The following 99 images characterize the city in the same subtle way. They are not Viennese as discernable city views, but they represent a certain view on things. The “Leopoldstadt”, the 2nd district of Vienna, once the center of a lively Jewish Community, is the starting point for Oberdanner`s visual diary. The special flair of Vienna, its unique quality of light becomes visible through the color images of the artist and through the text by Wolf Haas, one of Europe`s most acclaimed writers of modern crime stories.
