Salzburg – An Artist’s View

 25,00

In this collection of work, four completely different photographic »visions« of the city of Mozart have been developed. The German photographer Verena von Gagern traces with her style, a very personal, subjective documentation, distinct phases of architecture in Salzburg. Thomas Joshua Cooper, born in America and living in Glasgow, has produced extensive photographic work in Scotland, and works with the mysticism and the magic of the mountains which surround Salzburg in narrow and wide circles.Otmar Thormann, a native Austrian living in Stockholm for 25 years, explores a kind of fluctuation between the immediate city documentation and artificial still-lives, showing peculiar traces of the Austrian and Salzburgian society.Inge Morath, born in Graz, has been living in America since the fifties where, after her first engagement as a photo-journalist in the post-war Salzburg, she has worked as a member of the highly reputed “Magnum” photo agency. In the classical style of journalistic photography, she portrays the people and the everyday situations in the city.

This book of artistic photographs of Salzburg does not lead to the churches, squares and tourist attractions which have already been included in various other books, but it contains the views of this city as seen through four international photographers.
