In Paul Albert Leitner’s work, the journey is a continuous motif: already in his work “Blauer Zufall am Horizont” (Blue Chance on the Horizon, 1986), he constructs travel images in the studio and thus questions the reality content of the medium with poetic ways. In his new work, the journey becomes an existential metaphor for Leitner. Real images of distant shores mingle with still lifes of home that simulate the foreign. Leitner’s works are characterised by formal beauty as well as poetic power: he is not a reporter, but rather a philosophising poet using the ways of photography.
