PHOTO Roman (2) is an exploration of the city and its surroundings as an urban biotope. The photographs were taken in Cologne, Düsseldorf, Vienna, Kaliningrad, and the Polish cities of Warsaw, Gdansk and Lodz between 1999 and 2004. They highlight the turn of the millennium in central and eastern Europe, a period of upheaval, uncertainty and re-orientation. For many, a sense of loss and failure, a longing for security, with tradition and lifestyle once again left unredeemed. PHOTO Roman (2) is a lyrically associative approach to peripheral ways of life in both past and present.
