Werner Kaligofsky, born 1957 in Wörgl, refers to the history of film and photographic images in his multi-part photographic works. His transfers of various media discourses into the medium of photography – Reinhard Braun calls Kaligofsky’s process “re-presentation” – presents itself not only as a technical-visual mapping of realities, but thus, as it were, also as a mapping of perception, consciousness and society. With his works, Werner Kaligofsky “stages” a logistics of perception that thematises the media-technical mirroring of the world: Gaze relations as representation relations as media relations as control relations.
