Changement de Propriétaire

>11.06.–24.07.2010

Peter Dressler’s new series entitled “Changement de Propriétaire” addresses filmic-photographic memory. His work is a photographic storyboard on a fictitious film inspired by the film noir genre. The photographer assumes the role of a location scout who determines a content using found set designs and then stages it through subtle interventions. In this instance the small boards with numbers which illustrate a local examination or the small figure of a cardboard dog, a photograph within a photograph that brings life to a deserted scene in the Jardin de Luxembourg. Walter Benjamin talks of the colportage phenomenon of space in his Arcades Project (Passagenwerk), which contributed significantly towards linking the figure of the Flaneur with Paris as his urban habitat: “The space winks at the Flaneur; now what do you suppose may have gone on here?” This question accompanies Dressler on his explorations and findings.
